LSE London Short Film Festival: Visualising London’s Housing Crisis: Problems and Solutions

LSE FIlm Fest poster3We are in the midst of a housing crisis that affects all Londoners. Rents and house prices continue to rise, overcrowding is endemic and social housing is scarce. More homes are being built but nowhere near enough to meet demand or provide genuinely affordable housing for low-income Londoners.

How is this crisis – and possible solutions to it – being documented?

On Tuesday, 12 July 2016, LSE London presented over a dozen short films about different aspects of London’s housing crisis, creating a dialogue between audiovisual practice and academic research about the possibilities and limits of the contemporary housing context in London. This event brought together researchers, film-makers, practitioners and the general public, to discuss problems, solutions, and the future of the housing supply crisis in London. LSE London also presented some of its own short films about London housing.
